Working with the Northern Spark Art Festival my design team was given a site located within the Mill District along the Mississippi River to propose a festival installation piece. As a team we identified the unique qualities of the site, being that it represented the edge where the city meets the river.
Our proposal included decreasing heights of planes made of sun-film a transparent and reflective material. The result is that the film reflects the city behind but allows for views through the material towards the river below. The reflective quality of the moving material in the wind replicates the effect of sunlight on water. The varying planes in plan creates a filter experience that people move through and allows the user to be 'removed" from the city and focus on the river landscape.
