Fairview Housing

This project focused on how private development and public transit can be used to act cooperatively versus being juxtapositions.  The site is adjacent to the Fairview Avenue Station on the Metro Green Line Light Rail in Saint Paul, MN.

Different levels of privacy helped to determine how the buildings and spaces were laid out on the site. The rear building took on a more private facade relating to the neighborhood behind. The front building reaches out into the community to allow residents the opportunity to watch and be watched with the busy street below.

The inner courtyard acts as public space to allow transit users to make their way diagonally across the site to the retail and neighborhood amenities behind the property.
