Epiphany Adoration Chapel Renovation
Coon Rapids, Minnesota
Redesign and Renovation Proposal
Working with the Church of the Epiphany in Coon Rapids, Minnesota I proposed different design options and created what would become the ultimate space layout for the adoration chapel renovation. Working with Pastor Fr. Thomas Dufner, I created multiple iterations of the space to help narrow down what would become the groundwork for the final design of the space. The idea to flip the layout of the space (front to back) changing the entry sequence, keeping and better highlighting the existing stained glass windows and selecting chairs, carpet and ceiling colors were all contribution of ideas to the master plan project. The final design was executed by artist Nick Vasco with some assistance also by Interior Designer Jim Noble.
The chapel is used for Catholic Perpetual Adoration, which is the belief that the real and living presence of Jesus is directly and constantly available within the monstrance on the altar which cradles a consecrated host. Perpetual Adoration is the greatest devotion Catholics have to The Lord, second only to worshiping Him in the most holy sacrifice of the Mass. Having 24/7 access to Jesus in the Perpetual Adoration chapel is unique among other Catholic Churches in the Twin Cities. It’s our individual and collective duty to worship, guard, accompany and adore Him, as He sits before us in His exposed and vulnerable state.
